Look - knitting!

'Member that super secret double probation test knit I mentioned a while ago? At last, the reveal!

This is Shoru, a new shawl pattern from the lovely Rosi G. Isn't it gorgeous?!?

The stitch pattern is beautiful, intuitive, and easy to knit. And the construction is great - you start at one corner, increase to the center, then decrease and work to the other corner. So you can weigh your yarn, then knit this shawl without wondering if you're going to run out of yarn two inches before the bindoff - which is only four stitches. Gotta love that!

I just love the detail on this, too. Check out those groovy wraps in the middle of the diamonds! And the edging? Simply beautiful.

I wanted a supersize shawl, so I knit this with two skeins of sock yarn. The final size fully blocked came to be 8 feet long x 2.5 feet wide. Nice and snuggly!

Yarn thoughts
This is BFF B yarn by Alpha B Yarn (say that three times fast!). It's 100% merino, very soft, with a wonderful drape. I absolutely LOVE the color - such a rich, vibrant, cranberry red. I swear, there were times I wanted to just pour this in a glass and drink it up!

There was some tint in the soak (it is red, after all), but no fading or pilling afterwards. I used almost all of both 400-yard skeins for this shawl - there were about 8 grams of one skein and 10 grams of the other remaining.

I can't attest to how it would hold up as socks, but this yarn is perfect for shawls!

Wrap it up
This is going to be my go-to go-out shawl this winter! Beautiful pattern, super soft yarn, wonderful drape, and big enough to snuggle in without falling off my shoulders. If you haven't queued this pattern up yet, go Ravel it now!
