- Rainbow Socks - these look really cool, but will straight stockinette be too loosey goosey?
- Devon - designed to work with variegated, but is the colorway too contrasty even for this pattern?
- Monkey (Purl-free) - works well with this colorway, but do I really want to knit these or do I just want to call them Space Monkeys?

I'd go for Rainbow. I don't think it would be loosey goosey at all. What a great color way!
I LOVE that colorway! Too bad I imposed a yarn moratorium two days ago.
I think any of those would work. I don't think Rainbow would be too loosey goosey, either. But calling them space monkeys would be awfully cool!
i'd go with monkey. the name is just too serendipitous to resist.
Hmm, I think Monkey or Rainbow Socks would be a good choice, but can I make a not-on-the-ballot suggestion? I think Aquaphobia would look pretty cool in this colorway. It's awesome, by the way. I'm sure whichever pattern you chose, they will be socks made of awesome.
By the way, my "it's awesome, by the way" comment was directed towards your colorway, not my suggestion. ;)
I made Space Monkeys out of mine and my sister LOVES them! It is a good choice for this yarn.
Monkey, hands down.
I vote Space Monkeys. Think the yarn is too contrasty for Devon, and you would not be happy with Rainbow socks--I tried knitting them and got huuuge lumps where the short rows were. Super ugly, and I imagine uncomfy.

I think you are right and it's too much for the Devon pattern.

I think this yarn has too much contrast for Devon, and Rainbow would be better in a striping yarn IMO.
If the stockinette is your concern, I've done lots of socks in STR in plain knit :)

I think the name Space Monkeys is too awesome to not go with that!
You probably already have the pair knit up, but I like Monkey--although I do the purl version. Pablo Deep by Knitting Pixie are working up very nicely for me in a blue-green-yellow multi.
