Top Ten List of Randomness

Randomness #1
I'm happy to report that Jellyfitch found a happy home! It's now living the high life with chemgrrl, my patron saint of unloved knits. :) (BTW, did I mention that my skin can't handle alpaca, either? The growing list of itchtastic yarns blows!)

Randomness #2
I only have one wip going right now - a pair of socks that are a kitchener away from being done. Almost finished them last night while watching "West Side Story," but had to go to bed before Tony bit the big one. (I like my weezaending better - they got the money from Doc, ran away together, assumed new identities and lived happily ever after somewhere in the country, randomly bursting into song along the way.)

Randomness #3
I have no desire to cast on anything new. Or buy more yarn. Send help.

Randomness #4
This odd lack of desire could be attributed to the fact that it's stupid hot right now. How stupid? It is, literally, 90 degrees outside. 90 effing degrees. At 8:30PM. Tomorrow is October, people. October! WTH!

Randomness #5
Like everyone else who got the memo ;), I watched the Sex and the City movie this weekend! Absolutely loved the show, but hmm. Jury's still out on this one. I enjoyed the movie of course, but think the series finale did it better. May need to give it another watch to be sure (thank you Netflix!). Otherwise, it may get filed in the "pretend it doesn't exist" folder, right next to those fusterclucky Pirates sequels and that last Indiana Jones movie (aliens? really?).

Randomness #6
How I would research sleep apnea: endless hours on Google, spreadsheet of various options, appointments with doctors to determine best course of treatment according to medical history and lifestyle.

How Hubster researches sleep apnea: "I heard about this thing that (insert sports figure) used. I'm gonna to try that!"

Randomness #7
Aaaaaaand we're done taking the train. After a three-hour commute two Fridays ago, topped by a series of unfortunate choices in train cars, seats, and seatmates this past Friday, I figured fate was trying to tell me to drive.

Randomness #8
Thanks to an East Coast friend who rocks the awesome, I finally scored a Wii Fit! And learned my balance sucks the awesome. Seems I've got a canter like Jack Sparrow. But I kick ass on the Hula Hoop! Haven't tried all the routines yet, but it's been ridiculously fun so far! For some of the exercises, you can pick a man or a woman to be your "trainer." I picked the dude. He needs a haircut, and you know, some actual facial features, but he has a very soothing, encouraging voice. I make him face the "mirror" during the yoga poses. Apparently, I've gotten so goddam lazy that a cartoon man's ass is actually motivating.

Randomness #9
I may have developed a spontaneous allergy to peanuts. Never had a reaction before, but about a month ago, they suddenly started making me break out in red patches around my neck (which is totally sexy, lemme tell you). Made an appointment with an allergist for Monday. Thus begins a super fun cycle of health plan runarounds designed to drive a logical person insane - like the fact that I can self-refer to a specialist for one visit, and one visit only. Which means if any testing or additional appointments are needed (which you know, you never happens with an allergist), I have make an appointment with my primary care physician to get a referral. To the specialist I've already seen. GAH!

Randomness #10
The first two episodes of "The Mentalist" are still sitting in my Tivo, but Simon Baker has joined Nathan, Viggo, Hugh, and Joshua on my list of five based on the previews alone. That man is seriously, seriously cute.

You will LOVE The Mentalist. It's awesome.

And yeah... Simon Baker? Totally hot. Incidentally, our lists are frighteningly similar. Switch out Hugh (who I love, but not that way) and Joshua for David Tennant and John Barrowman, and we're there. :)

If you need to cool off, we're only reaching a high of 58 here today. I guess it's time to break out the fall wardrobe ...

allergies blow. i hope that things aren't too severe and that you can skip through the medical system hoopla without too much trouble.

simon baker is not really my type, but he is very charming. he has a winky-wink type of smile.

I'm a Simon fan as well. I don't know if you like zombie movies, but he's pretty entertaining in the cheesy Land of the Dead. I'm curious about the Mentalist, but pretty much only so I can watch him.

And ay, I heart it! And I would be a big fat liar if I said I were surprised that you can't wear alpaca. Hey, are you sensitive to Lopi too? Weird!

Ooo, Simon Baker. I may have to re-think my 5 men I'm allowed to sleep with list. Was Hugh Jackman on there before? If not, he totally replaces Rupert Everett, which as you pointed out was kind of fruitless anyway.

OMG - one WIP??? Please let me send you one of mine. Good luck with the allergy testing - and the Health Care System - in my eyes right now should actually be called "Health Indifference" - so much time making our lives MORE stressfull with the referrals etc, it's such a time suck. The Wii Fit is fantastic! My balance is so -so, too.

I went to the allergist once and they did all the skin tests on me that day. Hopefully you get the same thing. That makes it much easier.

I watched the SATC movie this weekend, too! And... well.. yeah... My friend who had seen it before was watching it with me and she was trying to take a nap but couldn't because I kept yelling at the TV. Honestly I think the movie was complete crap. I was a huge fan of the series but that was just terrible. Totally nuked the fridge.
