Screw you skunky - I got RAK'd!

So, the skunky update - turns out that around this time of year, girl skunks are getting ready to pop out their demon seed and are looking for nice, dark places to nest. Now, if another girl skunk comes along, they get medieval on each other and a territorial bitch fight ensues. Which is what happened underneath our house. Apparently, one of them sprayed the other with extra strength ass juice to make her go away. (I was told that if one of them had died under there, the smell would have been a hundred times worse. In which case, we would have moved. That night. Just gotten in the car and driven away.)

The pest control company has been out here three times - Thursday, Saturday, and today - trying to resolve everything with chemical deterrents, humane traps (which haven't caught anything yet, which we're hoping means both those bitches are gone), neutralizers, etc. Thankfully, the smell is gone. Nor, thankfully again, did it settle into anything. Kinda like Hubster's toots - it almost kills you when it comes out, but at least it doesn't linger.

I still washed everything we owned. And cleaned the house from top to bottom. Oh, and if any of you have stock in Febreeze, you may want to cash out now, because the sudden market spike will start to fall now that I'm not killing the ozone every 30 minutes.

Ugh, may I live a thousand years and never go through this again. May you live a thousand years and never go through this at all. But, then again, if this hadn't happened, we wouldn't have called pest control, and one of those skunks might have had babies under there. How much would THAT have sucked? So, I suppose one could see a silver lining in all this. If one squinted. Really, really, really hard.

lindydiva, you're my hero
The last few days have been less than fun (*snort*), so imagine my delight when an unexpected package arrived in today's mail. It turned out to be a RAK from knitty's fabulous lindydiva!

Inside this very cute gift box:

Was all this!

A very cute card, two gorgeous skeins of Artyarns Supermerino and a set of size 5 dpns! Now look closely and check out the envelope flap - that's a wax seal! Is that not the coolest? I remember doing that on our wedding invitations way back when, but it never occurred to me to continue it on my regular correspondence. I may need to now, because it is such a fantastic touch!

Thank you, thank you lindydiva! I love it, and your timing couldn't have been better. :)
